Liberty to provide legal observers for #18oct

We are delighted that Liberty have agreed to provide legal observers for the demonstration, as they have done with previous TUC marches.

Liberty’s involvement provides extra reassurance that our right to speak out against growing economic inequality and hardship for working people will be policed in a way that recognises our right to protest, as guaranteed under the Human Rights Act.

Of course, this isn’t to say that we are expecting any legal difficulties or trouble of any kind. As ever, we’re working hard to make this a well-stewarded and family friendly event, which we are organising in close liaison with the police, the Royal Parks, local councils and other agencies.

For those interested in the legal issues at demonstrations, you can a download a useful leaflet that Liberty produced jointly with the National Union of Students.
